·       Ensuring Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Legitimacy

·       Widening the International Support Base

·       Increase International Isolation of Taiwan

·       Negate U.S. Influence in East Asia

·       Global Rules and International Order

Article concludes:

·       "China continues to seek greater prestige, status, and influence on the world stage, it is also likely to be more paranoid, sensitive, and susceptible to external forces on its domestic front."

·       Of the five objectives, 'centrality of the CCP' remains primary

·       China will strongly resist efforts by the West to disrupt its path to global prominence, leading with provocative diplomatic efforts

·       China will become increasingly concerned with foreign influence within its borders
